I think absolutely not! I work in an office of 25 or so women (oh and one man). It would be so inconsiderate to have a pet (guide dogs excluded) in the office. There are allergies and fears to think of. For instance, I am allergic to cats. I don't know if anyone would be allergic to my dog or even my kids' hamster.

I have dogs in my work place that are at times obnoxious beasts. Problem is my work place is my home. LOL I feel for you dear. I do not have any advice though.

In the past, I've worked with visually impaired workmates who had guide dogs. They're just regular dogs when they're off the leash and it's such a treat to have them lolling around the office. Being labradors they're friendly (or at least friendly to anyone who has food in their hand...) and being guide dogs they're well trained so are no trouble. I loved having a dog to pat during the work day, it's a great stress reliever.

Someone told me I should let the dog bite me and then refuse to go to work if the dog is there due to "trauma"...but besides the fact that I think they'd just get another receptionist, I don't want to get bit!

I voted, "Sure, why not?" considering the boss's dog is here in the office with us now ;) But this is a quiet dog that listens. So really I say, it depends! I think you should call Victoria Stilwell from "It's Me or the Dog" - sounds like it would make a great episode!
